The role of domestic DFIs in using blended finance for sustainable development and climate action - The case of Brazil

OECD

The paper provides an overview of Brazil's national development finance system and explores the use of and challenges to blended finance within this overarching network.

While the blended finance field remains somewhat nascent in Brazil, there is growing interest in and application of blended finance structuring by many domestic DFIs in the country. The research paper posits that continued collaboration between international and domestic development banks, and the private and public sectors, is important in order to build an blended finance evidence base that will help guide the launch of future blended finance transactions.
