Blended Finance for Small Island Developing States (SIDS): Oceania

Tuesday, April 23, 2024, 10:00pm-11:00pm EDT.

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face unique social, economic, and environmental vulnerabilities, and must rapidly accelerate their transition to sustainable economies. Many SIDS are exploring innovative financing mechanisms, including blended finance, for this transition. Blended finance will be an essential tool in supporting the regional blue economy transition, scaling investment opportunities, and financing nature-based solutions.

This virtual panel discussion will explore the trends, opportunities, and challenges for blended finance in the Oceania region, and discuss successful examples of blended finance structures and instruments deployed to-date. The session will conclude with an open Q&A.

Featured panelists:

  • Marko van Waveren Hogervorst, PFAN Programme Manager, UNIDO
  • Andy Isbister, A/g Director, Blended Finance and Investor Engagement Unit, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Paul Makumbe, Regional Director, Pacific, Camco
