Prepared by the MDB Task Force on Mobilization, this report is the latest instalment in the annual disclosure series where MDB and DFI Task Force members report on their figures for capital mobilization to developing markets.
On the back of a robust cache of mobilization data, the MDB Task Force observes that greater mobilization of private sector dollars to emerging markets is correlated to greater impact for beneficiaries. Private sector investors (pension funds), impact investors and insurance companies are each examined in turn to better understand the challenges of crowding-in these groups and the corresponding strategies to more systematically engage them. Blended finance is identified as an important approach to increase the leverage of MDB and DFI investment, especially in low-income countries. The Task Force suggests a less ad-hoc and more systematized use of blended finance by MDBs and DFIs.
